Frankford is home to a rare remnant of native Blackland Prairie, the Historic Frankford Church, Indian Springs, and five acres of land that provide a remarkable connection to the people and landscape that came before us.

Early Giving begins August 27, which means you can make your North Texas Giving Day gift to Frankford Preservation Foundation anytime between August 27 and North Texas Giving Day on September 17.

A Prairie in the Heart of the City
Native Blackland Prairie once stretched across much of North Texas. Today, only small remnants remain.
The prairie at Frankford survived because this five-acre tract was never plowed. Native plants that had persisted beneath the surface for generations were allowed to grow again, revealing a living connection to the landscape that existed here long before the city grew around it.
That makes Frankford more than a historic site.
It is a piece of living North Texas history—and one worth protecting.
